Police were called to Lebanon’s 1100 block on Forest Street at 3:30 p.m., said Lebanese Mayor Seri Capello. At 4:24 p.m., shots were exchanged between officers and a suspect, and three police officers were beaten, Capello said. An officer died, Capello said. One of the surviving police officers was in critical but stable condition on Thursday night. The other officer was in stable condition. Lebanese city police chief Todd Brainer said the suspect in the house arrest call was a 34-year-old man who is now dead. Police did not provide further details about the incident. The family of the officer who was killed was notified, but Capello said that out of respect for the extended family members and their loss, the officer’s name was not disclosed on Thursday night. The Lebanese county prosecutor’s office is investigating the shooting, Brainer said. “Right now, we are focusing on the tragic loss of the officer and the well-being of the other members of our police force,” Capello said. “This is an extremely difficult time for everyone.” “Our children are strong, but we are human,” Breiner said. “With the help of our families and every other law enforcement officer in this country, we will overcome it. Capello said another press conference on the shooting would take place on Friday. Read more at PennLive:
