“I didn’t think it would get that much buzz, but it did. It’s going well,” Mathew Toussaint, head of the TR Group at eXp Realty, told CTV News Toronto in an interview about the unique for sale sign on the home located near St. Clair West and Dufferin Street.
The $2,149,000, 5,000-square-foot home has seven bedrooms, four bathrooms and three kitchens and has been occupied by the current owners since 1958.
Originally built as a single-family home, the property has since been converted into a triplex, which fellow stockist Manuela Santos said makes it a great candidate for an income property.
While he admits the house has yet to be inspected by a paranormal expert, Toussaint explained that the decision to include the “not haunted” detail on the for sale sign was made in an effort to stand out.

It’s a strategy that could serve Toussaint well in a market that has seen home sales in the Greater Toronto Area drop 24 per cent since June and 47 per cent year over year, according to the Toronto Regional Board of Realtors. The market shift can also be seen nationally, with the Canadian Real Estate Association saying last week that home sales fell for the fifth consecutive month between June and July. But despite the apparent correction, the median home price in the city stood at $1,074,754 last month — up one percent from July 2021, but up six percent from June 2022. With that in mind, Toussaint said he hopes the sign will increase interest and said potential buyers are more than welcome to check the house for any “paranormal activity.” “They’re honestly more than welcome to have an expert check it out. Our previous owners had no experience in the last 60 years of anything like this,” Toussaint said. The property goes on the market on Monday and will be on view during a public open house on Saturday, August 27. The property at 47 Northcliffe Boulevard is shown in this image.
