A 3-year-old boy died on Monday after being shot in the head and police say they are investigating what led to the shooting. Police said the boy’s mother took him to Medical City Dallas Hospital in North Dallas near Highway 75 in the United States, and police were called to the emergency room around 10 a.m. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity was not disclosed. The boy’s mother told police she was involved in a rage near a park at the intersection of Arbor Park and Whitehurst streets in Lake Highlands. About six Dallas police cars were parked outside the hospital emergency room at about 1 p.m. Police used yellow crime scene tape to block the area around a dark, metal Subaru sedan just outside the entrance. where about a dozen Dallas police officers and detectives gathered. A trailer dragged the car and police left the hospital around 2:30 p.m. The car appeared to have two small holes in the rear window. There was no other obvious damage to the outside of the vehicle. Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said in a written statement that he was confident police would find the person or persons responsible for the shooting. “I know that this particular tragedy weighs on both our community and our homicide detectives,” Garcia said. “There are many unanswered questions that our detectives are working diligently to answer.” The shooting also sparked calls for justice from Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, who wrote on Twitter that the news of the boy’s death “breaks my heart and makes me completely sick.” “The person responsible for the death of this child must be brought to justice.” Police did not release any additional information.
