It happened at about 9:19 am.  near Old Weston Road and Rockwell Avenue, just north of St.  Clair Avenue West, in the Stockyards area of ​​the city.
Police said at least two vehicles crashed into a nearby home after the five-car crash and hit a gas meter.
A gas leak is confirmed in the area and police are in the process of evacuating several nearby homes.
According to police, a driver fled the scene of the crash on foot.
The area is cordoned off as officers investigate and search for the driver.
No injuries have been reported and crews are heading to the scene to repair the leak.
