The incident was reported at 18:45 this afternoon and all emergency services are working at the scene with Devon and Cornwall police leading the response. The National Highway cleared diversion routes and said the road is likely to remain closed overnight. He said: “Due to the nature of the incident, the road is likely to remain closed overnight without any hours for reopening at this stage.”
Traffic and travel website Inrix reports: “The A30 was closed in both directions due to accident investigations from the A39 (Carland Cross, Carland Cross) to the A390 (Chiverton Cross, Three Burrows). Traffic to the east is recommended:
Leave the A30 heading east on the Chiverton Cross and sign up for the A3075. Follow the A3075 toward Goonhavern and its junction with the B3285. At junction A3075 / B3285, turn right onto B3285. Follow B3285 to Zelah Hill. At junction B3285 / A30, turn left and return to A30 heading east.
Traffic to the west is recommended:
Leave the A30 heading west on the Summer court and sign up for the A3058. Follow junction A3058 toward Quintrill Downs / A392. At junction A3058 / A392, turn left onto A392. Follow the A392 until it intersects with the A3075. Turn left onto the A3075 and follow until the junction with the A30 at Chiverton Cross. At junction A3075 / A30, take the third exit and return to A30 heading west.
