The Chinese state media China Daily reported the death of 123 passengers and nine crew members on the Boeing 737-800 plane, citing the confirmation of the country’s Civil Aviation Authority. Rescuers had combed the mountainous, forested land and deployed rescue vehicles this week in search of survivors, but said they had seen no signs of life. Investigators recovered 183 pieces of equipment from the crash site, including a black box containing communications between the three pilots of the plane, which will reproduce the final moments of the flight before the plane crashed. Chinese researchers are still looking for a second black box containing a flight data recorder.
