The police in Calgary says that about 300 protesters gathered in a park in the city center on Saturday, but they say that the rules on insurance measures adopted earlier this month after weeks of so-called freedom demonstrations were respected. The Calgary Police Department said in a statement that the group gathered at the Harley Hotchkiss Gardens headed along Stephen Avenue to City Hall and that the approximately 100 people who later arrived were dispersed peacefully. They say another group of protesters in Prince’s Island Park also moved to join the first rally, but that one protester was arrested for violating security measures using a public road aid system. The police also says that drivers in the region that came too much in relation to demonstrations received tickets under the Law on Marketing Safety. Last week, a group of about 1,000 people gathered in Central Memorial Park in the Beltline neighborhood of the city before proceeding to City Hall, and several protesters were arrested. Ongoing protests over the weekend against vaccination orders and other restrictions on public health led to outcry and protests from residents, and an emergency order was issued March 18 strengthening the police force to enforce the law.
