Shortly after 2 a.m., police say they responded to a report that someone had started firing from a car in the direction of a clash that allegedly broke out in a crowd at the corner of 10th Street and K. Street. The video, which was posted on social media, shows terrified people running from the scene against the backdrop of rapid shots, according to ABC 10. Berry Accius, a member of a local youth organization, told ABC10 that he came to the scene shortly after the shooting. “Many bloody victims, just seeing some of the families who did not know if their loved one was alive, were running, trying to figure out what was going on, upset people, upset people,” he said, describing a scene of chaos. “It was just awful.” Accius later told the Associated Press he was upset. “The first thing I saw was victims. I saw a young girl with a whole bunch of blood on her body, a girl pulling out her glass, a young girl screaming saying: “They killed my sister”. A mother runs, “Where is my son? Has my son been shot?” he said. “You know, turmoil, trauma. “It’s just a lot of things that, you know, you do not want to see.” Residents were asked to avoid the area. It is not clear if a suspect has been arrested. Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg said he could barely express his “shock and regret” in a tweet Sunday morning, promising to fight gun violence in the city. “Increasing gun violence is the scourge of the city, our state and our nation, and I support all efforts to reduce it,” he wrote. “Our new police chief, Kathy Leicester, has made it a top priority and I stand firmly behind her.” A member of the local city council expressed regret over the increase in violence in the city. “Another shot. “More lives were lost,” Katie Valenzuela wrote on Twitter. “The national epidemic of gun violence has hit our community – again.”
