Health Secretary Adrian Dix says the county is preparing to provide information this Tuesday on the possibility of making a fourth dose of COVID-19 available to vulnerable people in British Columbia. The minister says discussions are under way on providing a second booster vaccine to clinically vulnerable people, such as those in long-term care. Dix told reporters that BC’s strategy for COVID-19 has always been to protect the most vulnerable and to act on data that is examined on a daily basis. BC reported two more deaths from COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 2,998. The Ministry of Health also reports 281 people in hospitals, with 42 in the intensive care unit. The ministry report states that almost 91.1 percent of eligible individuals aged 12 and over in BC. have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine and 57.5 percent of them have received a booster vaccine.
