Severe weather conditions, including rain, wind and snow, are expected to hit several parts of British Columbia over the weekend. Environment Canada has warned of heavy rainfall and strong local winds for the Vancouver Metro, Gibsons, Sechelt, Sea to Sky Corridor, North Shore of Vancouver, Tri-Cities and Lower Fraser Valley north of the Fraser River. The meteorological service reports that the uphill areas from the Lower Sunshine Coast to the Lower Fraser Valley are expected to receive the heaviest rainfall from Sunday night until Monday afternoon. He warns that strong, stormy winds are also possible from Sunday to Monday in the Vancouver Underground, Abbotsford and parts of Howe Sound. Environment Canada issued a winter thunderstorm Sunday night through Monday afternoon on Highway 3 – Paulson Summit at Kootenay Pass with areas expected to see up to 30cm of snow.
