Brendan Smialowski AFP | Getty Images President Joe Biden said on Saturday that Russian leader Vladimir Putin “can not stay in power” because of his invasion of Ukraine. In a sweeping speech in Poland marking the finale of a three-day trip to Europe, Biden urged democracies around the world to unite against Russia and commit to a historic battle against authoritarian aggression. “In this battle, we must have clear eyes,” he said. “We have to strengthen ourselves for the long struggle we have ahead of us.” Biden directly and repeatedly condemned Putin throughout his speech, accusing the Russian president of “using brute force and misinformation to satisfy a longing for absolute power and control.” Biden criticized Putin for invoking Nazi images as a pretext for invasion, calling it an “obscene” lie. He blamed Putin for the mountain of international sanctions crushing Russia’s economy and currency, saying the Russian ruble had become a “ruin”. This is breaking news. Check again for updates.
