Concerns were expressed about the well-being of a woman who, as it turned out, fell into the water. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the body of the woman, believed to be about 60 years old, was found dead a short time later. Her relatives have been informed and specially trained officers are supporting the family of the deceased. A security guard remains in place while police conduct timely investigations. Investigations are ongoing and police urged the public to avoid the area to determine the circumstances under which the incident occurred. Detective Inspector Tony Hibbert said: “Investigations are at a very early stage and it is important for us to determine the circumstances surrounding this woman’s death. We know the area is popular with the public and can look forward to seeing the police presence today as police officers continue to investigate, so where possible we would ask them to avoid it. “Right now we are facing death as unexplained and therefore we are appealing to anyone who can help to get in touch. “Anyone who was in the pub or the surrounding area between 9pm and 10pm last night (April 2) last night, who saw what happened or has information that could help in our ongoing investigation, is invited to show up. “Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time.
