However, Justice Minister Dominique Raab said it was “obvious that there were violations of the law”. Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the Minister of International Trade, agreed this morning with Mr. Raab in a move that will put pressure on the post of Prime Minister. Ms Trevelyan initially declined to comment, as she told Sky News: “Number two who will be able to put all the information he gathered in the round and in fact so that the prime minister can come and speak in Parliament at that point.” However, she was repeatedly pushed by presenter Kay Burley, who later told the minister in an interview that “20 cases of fines imposed mean that 20 cases violated the law.” Ms Trevelyan replied: “Well, that’s right, they have violated the regulations laid down in the Covid law and the police believe that this is what they did and therefore they have been fined accordingly.” Asked why Mr Johnson would not say the same thing, he said: “Because, as I say, he wants to wait until the whole police investigation is over.”
