Coun. Scott Moffatt shared photos on social media Saturday morning of a speed display on Rideau Valley Drive, south of Manotick, with a bullet hole. “In the category ‘I’ve never seen it before,’ I bring to your attention a speedometer that stopped working because of the shooting. Well read,” Moffat said on Twitter. “A bullet went through it. You can see the back wound on the top.” A report has been filed with the Ottawa police. Speed signs advertise the speed at which a vehicle is driving in the area. Signs have been erected on street cabins across the city of Ottawa, with the data being used by staff and police to address speeding concerns in neighborhoods. “While I recognize that this person is likely to remain anonymous, this is incredibly dangerous and irresponsible. Homes are close by,” Moffatt said. “This recklessness and contempt for public safety will now cost taxpayers more than $ 2,000 to repair.”
