Deputies launched an extensive search Monday and found the suspect, later identified as Dennis Leeds, in a nearby fenced-in neighborhood, Placer County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Tuesday afternoon. The sheriff’s officials said Leeds was still armed when lawmakers confronted him. One or more Members of Parliament shot him. The deputies “immediately provided assistance to Leeds” until the doctors arrived, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Leeds suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital. Sheriff’s officials said Leeds’s criminal charges were pending. Lynch’s parents, Katheryn Lynch, 67, and Gerald Upholt, 80, were found dead at their Lake Forest Drive home in Loomis. The deputies were called home at around 10am on Monday, after someone reported that they had not heard from their employer for a few days. The deputies arrived at the house and knocked on the door, but received no answer at the door. Deputies tried to ask for someone to come in the door until they smelled a foul odor behind the door, according to the Sheriff’s office. Deputies worked out a plan to enter the house and received a search warrant when the adult son came out armed with a gun and ran into a wooded area, sheriff officials said. As lawmakers searched for Leeds, other lawmakers entered the home and found the bodies of the victims. Sheriff officials said lawmakers at the time were looking for a suspect in a double homicide. Shortly afterwards, deputies spotted Lynch in a field in the Lomida Lane, but he left the deputies again. Sheriff’s officials said Leeds eventually entered a fenced-off community outside Auburn Folsom Street. There, lawmakers confronted Leeds and shot him. The deputies were not injured during the incident. The Golden State-sponsored agents’ union said it was “shocked and saddened” to learn of the deaths of lobbyist Kathryn Leeds and her boyfriend Jerry Aholt. “On behalf of the GSBAA, I would like to express our condolences and sympathy for the tragic murder of lobbyist Kathryn Leeds and her friend Jerry Aholt,” Albert Ramirez, chairman of the Guaranteed Agents Group, told a news conference on Tuesday. “Our hearts and our deepest condolences are with their family and friends. Kathy was a brilliant lobbyist and her dedication to her profession and to the institution of government did not lag behind anyone. It is a great honor for us to work with her and to have her as a member of our family. “ Lynch ran a Sacramento-based equity firm, Lynch & Associates, which started in 1985 to provide government and consulting services in California.
