Police say the victim, an adult man, was walking at the intersection of 1th Street and 12th Avenue SW just before 10 a.m. when he was hit by a truck.
“Officers believe the truck went up to the sidewalk where it hit the victim and a telephone pole,” police said in a statement to CTV News.
The truck was a U-Haul and police say it was legally rented.
“However, the identity of the driver remains under investigation,” police said.
Calgary police are investigating a hit and run on the Beltline on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. EMS took the victim to hospital in serious condition.
On Tuesday afternoon, police said the victim was still in hospital and remained in stable condition.
The driver fled the point on foot heading east on 11 Ave. SW
Police describe him as between 45 and 50 years old, about 178 cm (5’10 “) tall and bald with dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a green sweater with a white shirt underneath.
