Around 1:30 p.m. On April 1, police responded to reports of gunfire in the Radcliffe Close SE 100 block. First responders discovered a man in a life-threatening condition who later died. An autopsy on Monday confirmed that the victim was 39-year-old Jamie O’Leary from Calgary. Over the weekend, police located a vehicle located on CCTV images at the time of the shooting and arrested a man. Calgary resident Tarek Che Sharples, 39, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with O’Leary’s death. Sharples appeared in court on Monday, April 4th. Investigators believe the victim and the suspect knew each other and that the homicide was the result of a dispute. “This was an incredibly busy time for our investigators who dealt with six homicides in two weeks,” Sgt said. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Homicide Unit on a release. “Homicide investigations are complex and require the coordination of resources from many areas of the service. “The homicide unit worked around the clock,” Gregson added. “And I would like to thank all the other CPS units that helped close these cases. I am incredibly proud that our service was able to complete this dossier so quickly while handling so many other inquiries.” Anyone with information on any of the recent Calgary homicides should contact Calgary Police at 403-266-1234.
