The draw took place on Friday in Qatar. Canada was the last team to be drawn in the Pot 4 final. But the second last team, Ghana, could not be in Group F because it comes from the same confederation as Morocco. So Ghana went to Group H with Canada going to F. Canada’s first match will be on November 23 against second-placed Belgium. Belgium finished third in the 2018 World Cup. The No. 38 in the world, Canada, faces No. 16 in Croatia on November 27th and No. 24 in Morocco on December 1st. The first two teams from each of the eight groups advance to the knockout phase. The Canadians brought together France, Hungary and the Soviet Union as opponents in the first round on their only other visit to the football showcase – Mexico ’86.
