Freedom Caucus President Scott Perry has said he intends to speak with member of the Cawthorn parliamentary group about the comments he made on a podcast comparing Capitol Hill culture to the Netflix “House of Cards” series. “I think it’s important, if you’re going to say that, to mention names,” Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, told Cawthorn in an interview with Politico. Comments from first-year MP Cawthorn, 26, led to suggestions from some within the Freedom Caucus Group that he should be expelled from the group, Politico reported. Perry would not say whether the parliamentary group would consider ousting Cawthorn if he did not name names or share evidence to support his heinous allegations. “And I have not spoken to him at all, so I do not want to prejudge the debate,” Perry told the North Carolina lawmaker. The members of the parliamentary group met on Monday night and their reactions to the comments were varied, the website reports. MP Madison Cawthorn claimed that other Republicans invited him to orgies and sniffed cocaine in front of him. Brian Cahn / ZUMAPRESS.comRep. Scott Applewhite Cawthorn discussed the alleged “sexual perversion” of some senior lawmakers, including people he said he had previously watched, in an episode of the Warrior Poet Society podcast last week. “Then suddenly they invite you. “We’re going to have sex in one of our homes, you have to come,” Cawthorn said. “And then you realize that they are asking you to go to an orgy.” He also said he witnessed a lawmaker inhale cocaine despite having a public stance against addiction. The comments also led to questions from the broader Republican House of Representatives conference. Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday he also plans to speak with Cowthorn after the issue was raised in a closed-door GOP meeting earlier in the day.
