On Sunday, people were shocked to see Will Smith take the stage at the Oscars and hit Chris Rock in the face on live television.

Chris had made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who had alopecia. Referring to the actor’s bald head, he had said: “Janta, I love you. GI Jane 2I look forward to seeing it. ”

Will initially seemed to laugh at the joke, but Jada – who has spoken openly about how her hair loss affected her confidence – was stoned as she rolled her eyes.
Chris seemed completely speechless from what happened and barely reacted to the physical attack. As Will returned to his seat, the comic said, “Oh, wow. Wow. “Will Smith just wrestled with me.”

Will then shouted, “Keep my wife’s name from your fucking mouth,” to the star. Chris sounded uncomfortable as he replied: “Wow, man, it was a GI Jane funny.”
Will repeated, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”
“I’m going, okay?” Chris answered embarrassed and then stumbled upon his words as he tried to move the show forward by announcing the nominees for Best Feature Documentary.
Will was seen consoling Denzel Washington, Tyler Perry and Bradley Cooper after the altercation, and later that night received applause from the audience as he won his first Oscar.

During his speech, he burst into tears talking about the importance of protecting your family. But when the parties started, Will had much higher spirits and was filmed singing his own song and dancing with a swarm of fans while holding his trophy.

On Monday, Will apologized for his behavior, saying “violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive.” He added that what he did was “unacceptable and unforgivable” before saying “a joke about Janda’s medical condition was too much for me and I reacted emotionally”.

Will then wrote: “I would like to apologize publicly to you, Chris. I was off the line and I was wrong. I am ashamed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. “There is no room for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
Chris has not publicly responded to the apology, nor has he posted on any social networking platform or issued statements since Sunday’s brawl. However, a source told TMZ that the comic had no idea that Jada had alopecia and that his observation was supposed to be an innocent joke about her hair. They added that Chris “does not have a bad bone in his body”.
Previous interviews revealing the star’s traumatic past have also hit the internet in recent days, with Chris having spoken extensively in the past about bullying and sexual assault as a child.

Chris said he endured “just a horrible existence” and “every day was hell” as he targeted his predominantly white school.
Speaking to Howard Stern on Sirius XM in 2020, Chris said: “I suffer from a high self, low self-esteem. And when I say ‘big self’ I’re just joking. “If it has to do with my job, I’m the worst mom in life, but anything else is like feeling like I’s not worth anyone’s attention, nobody’s love, praise, nothing.”
Reflecting on the “child trauma” that he believes is responsible for this mentality, Chris continued: “I think I have dealt with it because I can write jokes about it, but I have never dealt with it. It was just a horrible existence. The closest character I can relate to is Tim Robbins The Shawshank [Redemption]every day was hell. ”

“I was a Negro and they hit my fucking ass and fucked me physically and sometimes some sex shit happened,” he added. “I was not raped, but I was raped.”
Chris went on to reveal that he had recently crossed paths with one of his bullies at work. He explained: “I made a movie a few years ago and one of my bullies was working safely on the movie – a guy who literally, one day at school, turned me upside down and shook the money out of my pockets.”
He was a little embarrassed and I took a quick look at him, like “Hello friend, I hope you are well, be careful” and kept moving. I did not like, “Get him off the plate, kick him out!” he said.
“He could be my friend, he could be in the trailer with us to watch The Godfather. The fact that he had to spend the whole day, to see me walking around – I was directing the film – and to see me being in all my glory and being so close to me but being so far away mom, he didn’t have to do anything “, Concluded Chris.
And earlier this year, Chris revealed that he once retaliated violently against his bullies, leaving him “afraid to get angry.”

Talking about Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade in January, Chris said: “Half the bullying was because I was just a kid. Then I took the bus to school and the bullying was because I was small and I was black. “I was doubly intimidated.”

“I went home, put a brick in a bag of books – this is like a legendary story in my neighborhood – I shook that shit and hit the guy in the face with that brick and kicked him, in Joe Pesci style, where we thought “he may die,” he added.

“In a long story, from that day on, as my shrinking puts it: ‘You’ve been afraid of being angry ever since,'” Chris said. “I was so scared of my anger.”

He then said that his therapist warned him that he was allowing people to walk him all these years later because of this incident. Chris said: “This guy brought something inside you and you are so scared that this thing will come out of you again that you let the whole world walk on you. “Your friends walk you, your friends walk you, your female relationships – everyone fucks you.”

Chris’s troubled past has struck a chord with some in the light of recent events, with people claiming that his experience with bullies explains why he barely reacted to the strike.

Commenting on an excerpt from the reappearance of Howard Stern’s interview, one viewer wrote: “That’s why he shook it so easily.” Another commented: “Doug dude. I was really thinking about Chris. Will is there crying, but Chris must feel something too. “Not only shame but also trauma.”
Another said: “He stayed calm and handled it well because it was not his first time experiencing something like this.” Another echoed: “Chris seemed so passive after a slap… Trying to get him to leave. “Childhood shows why.”
Ticket sales for Chris’s upcoming tour, meanwhile, have skyrocketed, with ticket exchange and resale company StubHub saying it had more than 25 times daily sales on Mondays and Tuesdays from the previous month.
