Starting with the new Launcher, Google introduces a new design that no longer occupies the entire screen. Instead, it now opens in the corner, similar to the Windows Start menu, leaving all your open applications visible. In addition, the Launcher search feature is now more capable. When searching the web, you can now see more detailed results directly in the Launcher user interface, instead of having to go to the browser. This means you can search for things like the weather and get more information faster. XDA-VIDEO PROGRAMMERS OF THE DAY However, search improvements go beyond web searches. Now, you can search for open windows and browser tabs so you can more easily find the right one when you have many of them open at the same time. Additionally, you can search for Chrome OS shortcuts, such as how to take a screenshot. Another new addition to this version is the ability to edit text using your voice. This is based on the Dictation feature, which allows you to type in any text field with your voice, but you can now use the voice editing text you have already written. For example, you can tell your Chromebook to delete a letter, move the cursor, and more. This requires dictation to be enabled in seconds in Chrome OS. Reaction GIFs are all the rage these days, and Google makes it easy for you to create your own with this Chrome OS 100. The Camera Video Recorder now has a GIF feature that lets you record a five-second video that can be easily shared on social media. Finally, Google highlighted some student-specific improvements. There are some new features here, but one of the most notable is that there is a new YouTube app that supports offline video playback. This means that you can save videos to watch when you do not have an internet connection and it is very important if you want to entertain someone on a long trip. Other features include the ability to add school accounts to Family Link so that children can access their school resources on a Chromebook at home, and YouTube parental supervision is also available for Family Link users. In addition, Google has made it easier for IT administrators to manage devices in an organization, including a new report that quickly shows them which devices need attention. A feature not mentioned in this announcement is the animated screensaver, which appeared in the development versions of Chrome OS 100. It is probably still under development for future releases.
