The heartless theft took place around 10 a.m. Thursday on Salthill Street in Clitheroe. The elderly woman is believed to have withdrawn cash from the Skipton Building Society at Market Place, where she is believed to have been followed by a man and a woman near her home. It has been reported that the man asked for instructions from the victim, while the woman managed to get 250 250 in her bag in cash and bank documents. CCTV footage of a man and a woman – described as Eastern European heritage – has been released by police who want to speak to them about the crime. A Ribble Valley police spokesman said: “Police are now calling for witnesses in connection with a ‘wallet theft’ that took place on Salthill Street, Clitheroe on Thursday, March 31 at around 10am. “The elderly victim withdrew cash from the Skipton Building Society, Market Place, Clitheroe. “We believe that then two perpetrators followed her to the address of her house, where they asked her for instructions from the man, while the woman entered her bag taking 250 pounds of cash and bank documents.” The spokesman added: “Do you recognize the male or female in the photos? “The couple is described as an Eastern European heritage. “Officers believe they could help with the investigation.” Anyone with information is kindly requested to email Dan Burton at [email protected] or call 101 at registration number LC-20220331-0346.
