Const. Jeffrey Benedict was charged with fraud under $ 5,000 following an EPS investigation into the claim in August 2021. The case was handed over to prosecutors in Calgary, who suggested the charge. Benedict received a notice of appearance on Friday and will continue to work in a “non-public position,” the agency said. Following the completion of the criminal case, an investigation by the Professional Standards branch will begin.
