Dick resigned last month, but agreed to remain in office until arrangements for her successor are finalized. In a written statement to the public on Monday, Priti Patel said that Deputy Commissioner Sir Stephen House would be in charge of the force temporarily until the next commissioner is appointed. The process of finding a replacement is expected to be completed in the summer. Patel also confirmed reports that he would be investigated by Chief of Police Inspector Sir Tom Winsor over his handling of Dick’s resignation.
