The victim, Eoin Bradley, was shot in both knees when gunmen stormed his home in Kildrum Gardens. They were left at home by his mother, Bernie McFadden, 62, after he was knocked on her front door. “It simply came to our notice then. They were all masked. One of them shouted the name of their target and the other two ran to Eoin’s bedroom. Everything happened so fast. I shouted at them that it was only Eoin and I who were at home, not the person they were looking for, but they ignored me and shot Eoin in every kneecap. “The two gunmen then ran down the stairs and pushed me and then the third man followed them outside my house. “I ran upstairs and found Eoin in bed with blood everywhere. I called the police and she in turn called an ambulance. It was crazy stuff. These people should not be allowed to run with guns and accidentally shoot innocent people. “They shouted the wrong name when I told them they just ignored me and shot my son in his bed. They obviously did not know who they were shooting at. “The community needs to know exactly what these people are capable of doing and getting away with it. It is very common in this city. “I have guests in my house all morning who sympathize with me. Many know Eoin. He works and returns straight home. He is a quiet man, he is not great for socializing, and this happens to him in his own bed. “I’m waiting to hear from doctors at Altnagelvin Hospital to see if Eoin needs to be taken to a hospital in Belfast or if he can be treated here at Derry,” McFadden said. Meanwhile, a PSNI spokesman described the shooting as horrific. “We were told shortly after midnight that three masked men had entered the property. Two of them entered a bedroom where a man was sleeping and shot him twice, once in each leg. He was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. “Fortunately, a woman who was also on the property at the time was not physically injured, but has been shaken by the incident,” the spokesman said.
