The next time you go to Kelowna’s Unleashed Brewing, your furry friend is invited. The brewery announced Tuesday on Instagram that they have officially received the green light to welcome dogs into their business. The brewery has always shared a love of dogs and craft beer, but has been limited in who they can include in due to restrictions from the County Health Services Authority. After months of applications and a proposal to health officials, it was two paws for Unleashed Brewing. “We actually didn’t even think it was going to happen. We thought it was going to be a much bigger fight and we’d have to get lawyers involved and everything,” said owner Mike Prytula. “But thanks to all the help we got from Cold Garden Brewery in Calgary, because they went through that whole process … they were able to help us with a proposal that was solid.” There are a few rules when it comes to welcoming four-legged friends inside. “The main thing is that it’s not a dog park. Try not to let your dogs play in the same area and of course don’t crowd the hallways with your pets.” Prytula says that with Kelowna’s huge canine population, a dog-friendly brewery isn’t out of the question. “To be able to take your dog to a safe place where he can learn manners and learn that it’s okay not to freak out and you can just sit back and relax when other dogs are doing the same thing. It’s going to create a much better friendly population to dogs within the city,” he added. Unleashed Brewing is located at 207 – 880 Clement Ave.
