It happened on Saturday just before noon on block 6400 on Frankford Avenue. Police say a red Ford F250 was traveling north on Frankford Avenue when it was cut off by a motorcycle traveling west on Passmore Street. The two vehicles collided with the result that the 62-year-old male motorcyclist got out of his bicycle and went out on the sidewalk. He was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. After the collision, police say the driver of the Ford truck lost control and hit a pedestrian man sitting on a bench. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims have not been released. “This tragic sequence of events was clearly provoked by the motorcyclist. As for the innocent person sitting on this bench, it is just a tragic series of circumstances,” said DF Pace Inspector General of the Philadelphia Police Department. “He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.” People in the neighborhood say they have seen him before. Flowers from the family were placed at the spot. Police say the motorcyclist may have been drunk. “It looks like it may have come from a bar, so we’re currently exploring the possibility,” Pace said. The medical examiner will perform toxicological tests. Police said the driver of the truck remained at the scene. Police do not believe he was running fast. No arrests or charges have been made.
