The collision at the Sarcee Trail and Richmond Road SW intersection occurred around 6:15 p.m. Emergency crews arrived to find a man unconscious and trapped inside their SUV. The driver, a 40-year-old man, was taken to Foothills Medical Center. As of 9:30 a.m., Calgary Police Department officials confirmed that his condition remained deplorable. No other injuries were reported. The intersection is closed and traffic in the area is bypassed around the point. Drivers are kindly requested to avoid the area. As of 7:30 a.m., the Sarcee Trail to the south is closed at 17th Avenue SW and a section of Richmond Road is closed between Stewart Green and Sarcee Trail. This story is evolving.
