They have problems with sharing, being very excited and making a turn. They are quite advanced in numbers and letters for their age because they have gone home with adults or have played a lot on a tablet, but they are far behind socially, empathy does not exist. Where I work is a fairly affluent area, there are not many social problems. They seem to be the slightly more middle class children who are socially disadvantaged. They are more likely to be just kids, have older parents and their parents are mostly office workers, so they worked from home and were more isolated. Many children got into tablets. It’s not a criticism of the parents because they were forced into this situation, but you can see it in the children’s social skills. Under five, social skills are everything, it is the indicator of how they will develop more than if they can say the alphabet or count to 10. Children with good social skills and interaction, even if they are not the fastest in learning to read or write, they often have the best educational results. Parents have a higher level of anxiety about how their children are developing. They ask “is my child normal?” Many parents say “my child is autistic” and the child is clearly not. They just behave schematically, line things up and do things constantly, that’s how toddlers develop. We need to reassure them that this behavior is normal, it is normal for a small child to grab. The parents did not have the opportunity to talk to other parents, so they are at home and Google something and opens a box of worms. Parents definitely make it worse for their children socially and for themselves. We have a specific baby boy, he is four years old and he has never mixed with children. Mom is extremely nervous about Covid and so overly anxious that as soon as she cries, she will keep him away because she thinks he has been injured. He is a completely normal boy, but he is not given a chance because her stress is transferred to him. There are a lot of kids who regardless of kindergarten will not be ready for school. In a kindergarten with 30 children you will have four or five adults. in a school you will have a teacher. They do not have time to take a child to the toilet or make him sit still, the child must be ready.
