The province’s energy minister says he remains optimistic about the future of the province’s oil industry and the Bay du Nord.
Andrew Parsons was responding to some of the concerns expressed by industry supporters over delays in a federal environmental decision for the Bay du Nord and a delay in a call for tenders offshore Newfoundland.
Parsons understands the concern raised by uncertainty, but remains optimistic that Equinor’s offshore development will be approved.
“I’m optimistic that the Bay du Nord will be sanctioned, approved and will move forward,” Parsons said.
He is also optimistic that the offshore sale of land to oil companies will proceed as in previous years.
