As Fortnite kicked off its most recent season, Epic Games announced that all of its two-week in-game purchases will be donated to Ukraine’s relief efforts. As the charity’s two-week period draws to a close, Epic Games will begin donating $ 144 million. Instead of donating the accumulated amount to a team, Epic Games is donating to a number of different relief efforts in Ukraine. These include Direct Relief, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Children’s Fund and the World Food Program. We warmly thank all those who joined us in supporting our humanitarian efforts for the people affected by the war in Ukraine. Together with the Fortnite community and @Xbox, we raised $ 144 million for @DirectRelief @UNICEF, @WFP, @Refugees and @WCKitchen. pic.twitter.com/lPAa8lmfJn – Fortnite (@FortniteGame) April 4, 2022 In anticipation of Fornite Chapter 3 Season 2, the game raised a whopping $ 36 million on its first day. The new season introduced the favorite character skins for Doctor Strange as well as Prowler. A brand new function where the building is removed was first tested and is now a permanent function for the battle royale. The momentum almost gave up with players all contributing to the big set, but buying V-bucks for in-game skins and accessories. Epic Games confirms that purchases of V-bucks and cosmetics from retail cards are also being donated to Ukraine’s efforts. In addition to Epic Games, Microsoft is committed to donating its net revenue. All Fortnite content purchases in the Microsoft Store over the past two weeks are also donations. Epic Games is on the growing list of companies trying to contribute to Ukraine’s aid funds. Riot Games, Humble Bundle and others have raised money for charity.
