Seamus Coleman makes his first appearance of the season after returning to full fitness following minor surgery in the summer. The Club captain will operate at centre-back alongside Reece Wells – making his first start for the club – and Michael Keane, while Vinagre and Nathan Patterson start at wing-back. Blues boss Lampard was forced to make a change to his midfield during the warm-up, with Tom Davies – originally selected in the starting line-up – dropping out, meaning Onana partners Alex Iwobi. Salomon Rondon leads the offense, flanked by wingers Dwight McNeil and Demarai Gray. Youngsters Billy Crellin, Lewis Warrington, Stanley Mills and Isaac Price are named on the bench, along with Andy Lonergan, James Tarkowski, Mason Holgate, Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray and Vitalii Mykolenko.
