Meteorologists predict that up to a foot of white material will land in parts of the Grampian and Highlands from today until Thursday. 
Scots in these areas have been warned of disruption on roads and public transport services.

The exact time the snow will hit Scotland

The Met Office has issued a yellow snow warning in northern Scotland A yellow snow warning has been in effect in northern Scotland since 6am this morning. Areas included in the warning are Angus, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Highlands. The Met Office’s weather alert will remain in effect until 22:00 tonight. Meteorologists warn that roads and railways are likely to be affected in these areas, with longer travel times expected due to conditions. “Heavy rain in northern Scotland will turn more and more into snow over high ground on Tuesday morning and then lower until the afternoon,” the Met Office wrote. “This is likely to bring some temporary accumulations in places at sea level, with 2-5 cm over 100-200 meters in places and maybe 10 cm over 300 meters. “There is some uncertainty until Tuesday night, but the snow is likely to clear to the north and return to rain leading to melting snow.”

When will the cold end?

According to their long-term forecast for the period between 9 April and 18 April, it is likely to remain cold with winter rains in the northern part of the United Kingdom. Conditions will remain volatile with temperatures averaging the time of year towards the end of this period. Temperatures could peak at around 16 degrees Celsius in Aberdeen on April 20, according to WXCHARTS.
