People were evacuated from the Westbank Walmart Sunday afternoon. UPDATE: 1:05 p.m West Kelowna Fire Rescue crews have now left the Westbank Walmart according to a witness at the scene, but the store remains closed. The Walmart remains evacuated and a strong plastic smell reportedly lingers in the area. There is no word yet on what caused the fire. ORIGINAL: 12:35 p.m A fire broke out inside the Westbank Walmart Sunday afternoon, forcing the store to be evacuated. West Kelowna Fire Rescue is currently on scene at the store, located on Louie Drive. Castanet has received unconfirmed reports that the fire started inside the sporting goods department, but it is not clear what started the fire. The building remains vacant at this time.
