The fire in Ottawa received a 911 call that reported a fire at a commercial street on Bank Street, between Nepean and Lisgar streets, just before 7 p.m. Ottawa fire photographer Scott Stillborn said the fire was in a three-story mixed-use building on Bank Street. “The main body of the fire has collapsed. Repairs and rescue operations are underway,” Stillbourne said on Twitter. The Ottawa fire said in a statement that firefighters encountered smoke as they entered the building. “After the arrival of other crews, smoke appeared from the brick and the eaves of the multi-purpose construction and a second alarm was sounded,” the fire in Ottawa said. Flames were later found on the roof of the second floor of a building, prompting officials to sound a third alarm. The fire was brought under control shortly before 8 pm An Ottawa Fire Department investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. Residents living in the building have been allowed to return to their homes.
