The beloved musician was pronounced dead at his hotel in Colombia, after paramedics fought to bring him back to life after reports of a man with “chest pain”. The rock band played in Argentina last Sunday and were due to appear in Bogota on Friday night as part of their South American tour when Hawkins’ death was announced. Now, a statement from Colombia’s attorney general’s office said Mr Hawkins had a drug cocktail in his system. These included THC (marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and opioids. A statement posted on Twitter, translated from the original Spanish, read: said: In the toxicological examination of the body of Taylor Hawkins, 10 types of substances were found, including: THC (marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids. “The National Institute of Forensic Medicine is continuing its medical studies to fully clarify the events that led to the death of Taylor Hawkins. The Office of the Prosecutor of the Nation will continue the investigation and will report the results that emerged in this context in a timely manner “. In a previous statement, Bogota’s municipal government said the city’s emergency center had received a report of a patient with “chest pain” and sent an ambulance on Friday night. Rescuers tried to resuscitate Hawkins, but there was no response and he was pronounced dead at his hotel in northern Bogota, the statement added. The band, led by former Nirvana star Dave Grohl, said they were “devastated by the untimely loss” and called for the Hawkins family’s privacy to be respected. The tributes spilled over from music industry titans, with Queen drummer Roger Taylor comparing his death to the “loss of a younger beloved brother.” “He was a kind, brilliant man and an inspiring mentor to my son Roufos and the best friend one could ever have. “Overwhelmed,” he said.
