Weapons, including a hammer and a knife, exploded when a masked gang stormed a Tesco store in Mavri Chora. A car theft even left a mom “injured” when her vehicle was caught at gunpoint while her son was in the back seat. Fortunately, she managed to free her son before the thieves escaped in her Volkswagen Golf. Now, Lambert and Morgan have been jailed for their involvement in the crimes. The crime spree started on August 4, 2018, when a house on Maybridge Drive, in Solihull, was broken into in the early morning hours. Several items were removed, along with keys of a white Alfa Romeo removed. A car bomb had exploded at Wolverhampton Castlecroft ten days later. Police said four criminals targeted the Tesco Express in Rowley Regis the next day. They burst into the store as the delivery drivers refueled the cash machine before starting with .000 71,000. A vehicle linked to the offenses activated an Automatic License Plate (ANPR) camera the next day, which led armed police to locate the car in Handsworth. It was abandoned on Holyhead Road, but two of the occupants were chased by police and arrested nearby. The West Midlands Police Task Force conducted an extensive forensic investigation, along with a cell phone analysis, before accusing Morgan and Lambert. They were convicted in Wolverhampton Crown Court after a 10-day trial. DCI Nicki Addison of the Force CID said at the time: “These were targeted crimes for high profits and we are pleased to remove two dangerous offenders from the streets. “Obviously they did not act alone and we will continue to pursue their associates. Anyone who can help with information should contact us.” The court heard that Morgan is currently serving a nine-year sentence for robbery. Lambert, from Cottersmore Close, West Bromwich, was jailed for 14 years. Morgan, from Arundel Road in Oldbury, was jailed for nine years. He will last continuously from his current imprisonment.
