Gatineau police received an automated call from a driver assistance application around 3:15 p.m. on Friday, alerting them to an accident near Cantley, Que. Police searched the area but could not find the vehicle and began searching for the owner of the phone. Gatineau police finally found the scene of the crash on Rue Blondeau in Cantley, but no one was there. They called MRC des Collines police, who went to the cell phone address that prompted the initial call to make sure everyone was OK. When they arrived, they found a woman who appeared to be drunk. He was taken to the police station, where the examination showed that he was above the legal limit. She had apparently left her home to unwind after an argument before the crash. Police said, while her vehicle is a total loss, she was not injured. The woman now has a court date and her leave has been suspended for 90 days.
