Introducing John Legend’s play “Free,” which featured a poem read by Ukrainian refugee Lyuba Yakimchuk, Zelensky spoke of the power of music in dark times, equating war with silence: “Our musicians wear armor instead of tuxedo. They sing to the wounded in hospitals, even to those who do not hear them. But the music will leak anyway. ” He had a request for the Grammys audience: “Fill the silence with our music. Fill in today, to tell our story… Support us in any way you can, but not silence. And then peace will come. “ pic.twitter.com/kJpRBMh0U3 – at (@ViralMaterial) April 4, 2022 Zelensky’s speech was recorded at some point in the last 48 hours in an underground shelter in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, reports our sister website Variety. Ukraine has been under attack from Russia since the invasion began in February, putting Zelensky on the international stage. He was rumored to be appearing at last week’s Oscars, with Sean Penn and co-host Amy Sumer publicly advocating for him, but those plans ultimately failed and Zelensky did not appear.
