Temperatures plummeted overnight to -1 C in some areas of the area, just days after temperatures reached 20 C and the area was enjoying sunshine from wall to wall. Residents in Tameside, Oldham and Manchester reported waking up to white things this morning. According to the Met Office, there is a greater chance of snow falling around 7 in the morning, as mercury remains low. Transport bosses have warned of some unrest on the roads due to the cold weather. Be especially careful on the roads and sidewalks and allow extra travel time. “Some bus services may also be delayed, contact your carrier before you travel. Plan ahead for an easier journey.” There is also heavy traffic on a section of the M62 between junction 23 for Huddersfield and junction 21 for Milnerow due to heavy snowfall on the road.
