The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) is investigating a motorcycle and truck accident that claimed the life of a Hanmer resident on Saturday night. In a news release issued Sunday afternoon, police said 22-year-old Thomas Hogg, the driver of the motorcycle, died from injuries sustained in the crash. Police said the incident occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. at the intersection of Cote Boulevard and Chenier Street in Hanmer. Members of the GIS Traffic Management Unit, the Rural Community Response Unit and Patrol Operations rushed to the scene. GPS reported that the driver of the motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries. “The nurses started life-saving measures on the male driver who was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead,” the police statement said. Along with identifying the Hanmer man killed in the crash, police issued a statement of condolences to his family and friends. “The crash investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Traffic Management Unit at 705-675-9171 Ext 2417,” the GIS statement said.
