Four people have been arrested after improvised explosive devices were found in a York village. Police received reports of several suspicious devices that had appeared in a garden in Copmanthorpe around 4 p.m. yesterday (Sunday, April 3). The area was cordoned off to allow emergency services and bomb disposal specialists to deal with the incident. The investigations led to a separate address in the village, which has now been investigated by specially trained officers. Two men and two women, aged between 18 and 53, were arrested during the investigation. They are currently in custody and police investigations are ongoing. The police remain on guard at the points. Advertising The incident is not believed to be related to terrorism. A North Yorkshire police spokesman said: “This would be a worrying event for the residents, as it resulted in a strong police presence. “However, we would like to reassure residents that explosives experts have ensured that the areas are safe and we do not believe there is a wider risk to the public. “Our officers remain in the area on reassurance patrols, so that people can observe an ongoing police presence.” No property had to be evacuated during the incident.
