The blast at the Location Club in Baku was believed to have been caused by a gas leak, but an investigation was under way, Interior Ministry spokesman Ehsan Zahidov told the Associated Press. The attorney general’s office reported one death and said 31 people had suffered various injuries. Health Ministry spokesman Parviz Abubekirov said 24 people had been treated, most of them with burns. Emergency services said in a statement that firefighters were called to the downtown club at around 3am and extinguished the fire before it could spread. A video posted on social media shows dozens of people in panic, some of them injured, outside the club, which appears to have been badly damaged by the blast.
