Brussels, Ont.  The couple was found dead at their home Wednesday afternoon and Darwin’s 18-year-old grandson, according to police, is now charged with second-degree murder in connection with their death.
“Our investigators do not believe this is a random attack.  In fact, there is a family relationship between the deceased and the accused.  “Huron County’s crime unit has now filed charges against 18-year-old Jadin Dicharm,” said Huron County OPP Officer Jamie Stanley.
Neighbors say the suspect has been living with Darwin and Beverly for the past few years.
What triggered the conflict that led to their deaths is still being investigated.  Police say they are not looking for other suspects and are not prepared to reveal the cause of death yet. “There are a lot of people here who have a relationship with Darwin and / or his wife.  He is well known in the community.  It’s just a lot of discussion and a lot of effort to get our heads around how these bad things happen and come out of the left field so unexpectedly.  “It’s such a tragic loss for all of us at Royal Homes,” said President Pieter Venema.
Neighbors say Beverly was a nurse who worked at a long-term care home near Mitchell but had recently slowed down or retired altogether in recent months.

It’s really painful to see this disaster for his family.  “To make us all feel so close to home,” says Venema.
Police are still appealing to anyone who saw anything on Graham Street near the scene of the murder on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon.
“We are responding to these calls and it has a huge impact on our members and the community as a whole.  “Certainly our thoughts and concerns are with the dead and their families on this issue,” Stanley said.
Jadin Ducharme, 18, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and possession of property worth more than $ 5,000.  He is scheduled to appear in court on April 6 in Goderich.
