Andrew, who reached a multi-million pound out-of-court settlement in a politically motivated sexual assault case a few weeks ago, wrote more than 700 words about his Falkland experience. The queen’s son flew missions as a Sea King helicopter pilot during the collision. Andrew’s reflection appeared in three posts – which were removed after about two hours – on the Instagram account of Sarah, Duchess of York. Under the last post, he said that “it was written by HRH The Duke of York” before “HRH” was deleted. The queen removed Andrew from his honorary military roles in January and he resigned from the HRH title in a dramatic consequence of his political affair. At the time, a royal source said that Andrew, who was born HRH, would not use the title in any official capacity. Virginia Giuffre sued Andrew for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was 17 and was trafficked by convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew in the Falklands, 1982. Photo: PA In the first Instagram post, Sarah wrote: “I asked Andrew this morning for his thoughts on the anniversary of his departure from Portsmouth to the Falkland Islands 40 years ago.” Andrew’s narrative begins: “As I sit here in my office this cold, crystal clear spring morning and think about April 1982, I try to think about what was going through my mind as we sailed from Portsmouth to the HMS INVINCIBLE flight cabin.” The 62-year-old concluded: “So, while thinking about a day when a young man went to war, full of audacity, I returned a changed man. “I left childish things and fake thumbs up and returned to a man full of knowledge of human weakness and suffering. “My thoughts make me think even harder and pray even harder for those in conflict today, for the family. [sic] torn by the horror they have seen “. Andrew also recalled being shot, writing: “I was flying and I saw a shell fired from one of our ships that passed not so far in front of us. “It simply came to our notice then. The fear that this was going to happen, just for a moment, had a lasting and lasting effect on me. “ Andrew talked about shootings in the past – in his infamous interview with Newsnight, which was given to defend himself against Giuffre’s accusations and to explain his friendship with the late Epstein. Claiming to be sweating profusely during a supposed night out with Giuffre, Andrew told Emily Maitlis in 2019: and I just; it was almost impossible for me to sweat “.
