Armed cops stormed Polvanie View at 3pm today after receiving a report of concern for one person. Upon arrival, a fire broke out on a property with neighbors being evacuated from their homes by fire crews who also attended. No one was injured in the blaze, but a 40-year-old man was shot by gunmen. He was arrested for the incident and taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment where he remains. A statement from Scottish Police said the circumstances, as well as any development of a firearm, had been referred to the Commissioner for Police Investigation and Review (Pirc). Investigations into the incident are ongoing and anyone with a video of the ordeal should contact the police via 101. Meanwhile, the force added that the incident was reduced and said that it does not pose a threat to the general public. Police patrols have been stepped up in the area in the coming days. Attorney General Conrad Trickett said: “We want to reassure the public that this incident is limited and that there is no danger to the general public. “There will be additional patrols in the area in the coming days and anyone with any concerns should contact the police. “We would also ask anyone who has any information or material from the incident to contact us.” Anyone with any information should contact the police via 101, reporting incident number 0793 of Wednesday 30 March 2022.
