The Last Week Tonight host weighed in on the possibility of Sarah Palin taking over for Rep. Don Young after his death. Oliver took a jab at the streaming platform by quoting an editor quoted in The New Yorker who stated that “Sarah knows how to work a crowd…but it’s Sarah, Inc.” …” Oliver took the name “Sarah, Inc.” and said it sounded like “a title for a sitcom starring Kat Dennings that has already quietly disappeared from HBO Max.” The comedian then added: “HBO Max, it’s a bunch of tax write-offs to appease Wall Street.” HBO HBO Max has made a number of changes as it works to combine the aforementioned streaming service’s catalogs with Discovery+. This week, the streamer released titles like Ellen’s Next Great Designer, The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo and My Mom, Your Dad, 12 Dates of Christmas, Close Enough, Genera+ion and Generation Hustle. “As we work to consolidate our content catalogs under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and Discovery+. This will include removing some content from both platforms,” the company said in a statement. “At the same time, we’re already starting to consolidate our content catalogs, including the launch of the new CNN Originals Hub on Discovery+ and a curated collection of Magnolia Network content coming soon to HBO Max.” Earlier in the evening show, Oliver also had a look at the HBO Max original And Just Like That, the Sex and the City follow-up series. “Sarah f****ing Palin is back and it’s like 2008 all over again,” Oliver said. “He’s going to run for office, the US has gone into a bear market and Sex and the City is doing spinoffs that it frankly doesn’t have the material to support.” And Just Like That has been renewed for a second season by HBO Max and it was recently confirmed that John Corbett would reprise his role as Aidan. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver airs Sundays at 11 p.m. ET on HBO and broadcast on HBO Max.
