The standout game of the weekend is in the eyes of some the standout game of the entire season as Manchester United take on long-time rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Monday night, live on talkSPORT. getty Old Trafford will be electric on Monday night and talkSPORT has live and exclusive commentary on the stunning game Neither team has made a good start to the season, but there is no doubt that Liverpool are in a better position as a club than the Red Devils. And Reds boss Jurgen Klopp couldn’t resist taking a cheeky dig at Man United ahead of the game, saying his club had saved a fortune by not having to pay as many managers as their would-be rivals in recent years years. Since the German arrived in 2015, half a dozen people – either permanently or temporarily – have taken charge at Old Trafford. Klopp suggested it must have been a costly exercise. “Imagine the money Liverpool saved by not paying them (a similar number of managers),” the Reds boss said ahead of Monday’s meeting. “I had to say that when I signed the last contract. It would be an interesting number.” Getty Klopp has been in charge of Liverpool since October 2015 sky sports In that time Man United have been coached by Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrrick (midfielder) Ralf Rangnick (midfielder) and Erik ten Hag (pictured)

The stats don’t look good for Man United, who will be looking to avoid a string of unwanted exploits against Liverpool. Liverpool are looking to win four consecutive league games against Manchester United for the first time since January 2002 and are looking to win three consecutive league games against them for the first time in their history. A defeat for Manchester United will see them in the first three league games for only the fourth time in their history, the last coming in the 1986/87 season. Erik ten Haag would become just the second Red Devils manager to lose each of his first three games in charge of the club since John Chapman in 1921. Defeat against Liverpool would also take them to a fifth league defeat in a row, which they have not managed since March 1972. And a goal for Mohamed Salah would see him become the first Liverpool player in club history to reach double figures against Manchester United. Getty Salah scored five goals against Manchester United last season, including a hat-trick at Old Trafford Things are chaotic on and off the pitch at Old Trafford and although talkSPORT’s Tony Cascarino believes Man United will one day bounce back, it won’t be anytime soon. Cascarino told the Weekend Sports Breakfast: “United as a football club will come back. They will have new owners one day and they will be different – not for now. “I feel this club is so badly run that every area of the football club is going backwards. “I don’t work at Carrington’s club or training ground but all I see is failure at every level. I don’t even get the sense of an exciting group of new or young players coming through. “It seems everyone involved in this football club is signing huge deals.” But for those 90+ minutes that come at 8 p.m. on Monday, all these problems will be far from the minds of the Man United players as their only focus is on getting the points and bragging rights against their oldest enemies.
