Update: Authorities say remains found in lake “most likely” those of Kiely Rodni A volunteer search and rescue diver team said Sunday they located the vehicle and what is believed to be the body of Kiely Rodni in Prosser Creek Reservoir. The Northern California teenager had been missing since early August and was last seen at a large party at an adjacent campground near Truckee in Nevada County. The discovery, which has not been confirmed by law enforcement, was made by Adventures with Purpose, a search and rescue diving group popular on social media. Surrounded by rugged peaks, dense forest and wildlife, Prosser Creek Reservoir is located about 10 minutes north of Truckee in the Tahoe National Forest. Prosser Family Campground is located on a peninsula on the west side of the reservoir, 90 miles northeast of Sacramento
Outdoor recreation at the lake
The lake’s long shoreline makes it a popular destination for canoeing, rowing, kayaking, fishing and swimming. A speed limit of 10 mph is enforced for motorized vessels. The lake, which has a capacity of 29,800 acres of water, is open from sunrise to sunset. On the west side of Prosser Creek Reservoir, across Highway 89, you can find single family and group camping sites. Prosser Creek Dam, built by the US Bureau of Land Management in 1962, created the reservoir. The federal agency owns and manages the lake for irrigation storage and flood control in the Truckee River watershed. The Prosser Lake area is accessible year-round, but the lake is usually frozen during the winter. This story was originally published on August 21, 2022 at 5:35 pm.
