Dr. Gary Jenkins was beaten, tortured and kicked to death by a gang of unrepentant murderers who left him unconscious and covered in blood, with his pants down, in a homophobic attack. The horrific incident, described as a “grotesque display of savage violence” against the 54-year-old, took place in Cardiff’s Butte Park in the early hours of July 20, 2021. Jason Edwards was originally from Liverpool and moved to Cardiff, where he took the nickname. The 26-year-old, along with co-accused Lee Strickland, 36, and Dionne Timms-Williams, 17, rained down on Dr. Jenkins as he begged to be left alone. It was known to them that she sometimes went to Bute Park late at night to have sex with other men. After the murder of Dr. Jenkins Strickland, he returned to the Esso garage on Cathedral Road and was seen on CCTV at 1.21 am, WalesOnline reports, using his victim’s bank cards to buy a bottle of whiskey. Edwards and Timms-Williams left Bute Park on the east side of North Road. Edwards later dropped Dr. Jenkins’ phone, which was found in a backyard, and returned to Queen Street, where he met Strickland at 1:45 p.m. and embraced him solemnly. Edwards appeared with a wide smile on his face and they continued to leave before the police stopped them. Edwards managed to escape and appeared to be running from Albert Street in Canton, before returning to his apartment in Litsfield Court in Riverside. He was finally arrested on July 21. Edwards, Strickland and Tims-Williams pleaded guilty to murder, robbery and assault on a man who tried to intervene but all denied murder. They were found guilty by a court following a trial at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court last month. Judge Daniel Williams sentenced Edwards and Strickland to at least 33 years in prison on Friday (March 25th), while Thims-Williams was sentenced to at least 18 years behind bars. In an emotional statement read out in court on her behalf, Dr. Jenkins’s wife paid tribute to him and to those who tried to save him during the attack. He said: “As a family we were devastated to learn what happened to Gary, as he was such a kind soul that he would never hurt anyone. “The reality of his tortured death has hit us hard and we all have a hard time finding any sense of normalcy since his untimely death. Gary was smart and funny and the heart and soul of every party. He was an incredibly generous and creative man who had only good intentions. “After seeing Gary in the hospital unconscious and unrecognizable, we all had to deal with the nightmare of what happened. In particular, the lives of Gary’s daughters have been massively affected as they lost their beloved father. “They are fighting in areas of their lives where they were prospering before this attack, such as their education and emotional state – and we have all had recurring nightmares and flashbacks directly related to the attack and his death. “The loss of many more years and the happy moments that Gary could have with his daughters were very painful and painful.” Condemning Dr. Jenkins’s attackers, Judge Williams said: “The world is becoming increasingly dark about his death. He is less polite. It is less colorful, with less humor, music and energy. “I have no doubt that it will be comforting for those who feel most strongly about his loss to reflect on the good he did at the age of 54 and not on the terrible injustice of his last moments.” Read more related articles Read more related articles
